Entropy WC

£20

Entropy is a two-player abstract strategic game designed by Eric Solomon in 1977. The game is sold commercially under the names Hyle (for a simplified version played on a 5×5 board) and Hyle7. The game is played on a square 7×7 grid of cells. One player (“Chaos”) draws coloured pieces at random from a bag and places each one on the board in an empty space. The other player (“Order”) may slide any piece horizontally or vertically through any number of empty spaces to rest in a previously empty space. The “Order” player is allowed to pass. When the grid is full, Order scores for any palindromic patterns of colours (e.g. “red–green–blue–green–red”) that have been formed horizontally or vertically. Diagonal lines are not scored.

Tournament Format
Swiss Pairings, double round matches (i.e. players play as both 'Order' and 'Chaos' in each round)
Rounds - 6
Time Control - 15 minutes per player for both games
Tournament Scoring - Players score tournament victory points based on the score difference at the end of the match

Score difference to Victory Points conversion table - MSO Entropy Scoring

Tournament Specific Rules
* Touch move applies to both players. A piece is considered placed by Chaos once it is released.
* When a piece is drawn from the bag Chaos should show it the Order player as a courtesy.
* Should Order run out of time then Chaos continues drawing and placing pieces but no moves are made.
* Should Chaos run out of time then pieces are drawn and placed so as to fill the board from the top-left to the bottom-right from the Chaos players' perspective. Order makes moves as normal.
* Should both players run out of time then the remaining pieces are placed so as to fill the board from the top-left to the bottom-right from the Chaos players' perspective. No moves are made.

Oware is an abstract strategy game among the bigger Mancala family of board games (or Pit and Pebbles Games)
