Nardy is also known as Long Nardy or Nardi, and is a variant of Backgammon especially popular in countries from the former Soviet Union.
Backgammon is one of the oldest board games for two players. The playing pieces are moved according to the roll of dice, and a player wins by removing all of his pieces from the board before his opponent. With each roll of the dice, players must choose from numerous options for moving their checkers and anticipate possible counter-moves by the opponent. Although luck is involved and factors into the outcome, strategy plays a more important role in the long run.
The rules of Nardy can be found here
Tournament Format
Time Control – Bronstein timing - 5 mins per player + 12 secs per move.
Rounds – 6 round Swiss where the winner of each game is the first to bear off all pieces (no doubling cube, i.e. 1pt games).
Ruleset – The winner of the game scores 1 tournament point. Draws are possible: If the second player (Black) manages to bear off all pieces in the final turn after White has already done so, the game is drawn and both players score 1/2 point.
Oware is an abstract strategy game among the bigger Mancala family of board games (or Pit and Pebbles Games)
