The 3x3 Blindfolded event challenges speedcubers to solve the 3x3 Cube without being able to see it. This event showcases the incredible mental agility and short-term memory skills of competitors. Participants study the initial state of the scrambled cube, and then put on a blindfold to solve it entirely from memory. Timings of this event include the memorisation and execution times combined. Unlike the other events being held, this event is ranked as a Best of 3 solves rather than an Average, so you only need the one successful solve to get your name on the scoreboard! The World Record is just 12.00 seconds!
Each player will be asked to solve the cube three times, with times recorded to two decimal places and a players score being the fastest solve that they achieve from their attempts. Once all players have posted their score the top 10 will contest the final. The format is the same as for the initial rounds except that the scrambles will be the same for each player to ensure a level playing field.
The maximum time allowed is 15 minutes total for the 3 solves.
This event is being run by the UK Cube Association (UKCA) and is in compliance with World Cubing Association (WCA) regulations. Competitors are asked to bring a form of ID to the event, or provide this via email for WCA records. Further information available at: https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/MindSportsOlympiadLondon2024. New players can also prepare in advance by reading this competitor tutorial.
Tickets will go on sale on Monday 10th June at 19:00 BST (UTC+1). The event will appear as sold out prior to tickets going on sale but be assured tickets will become available at this time.
