King’s Cribbage WC

King’s Cribbage WC

£15

Swiss pairings over 4 rounds with a 20 minute time control+10 seconds per move. Time is paused for confirming scoring. Standard MSO tie-break rules apply, but if two players have a perfect score, then Gold will be shared.

Games Rules can be found here. Please note that we play without the Joker rule (i.e. if someone miscounts, the opponent cannot claim their points). After 3 passes by both sides, the game ends. Players can pause the clock to count the score, and the first player to lay down tiles gets a 10 point bonus provided that they do not use all 5 tiles on that first move. In order to ensure that tiles are selected randomly, the tile bag should face away from the contestants.

Kings Cribbage is a board game released by Cococo Games that counts like cribbage, but plays like scrabble or a crossword puzzle. It uses a raised-grid gameboard and features playing card tiles, 4 tile holders and a bag.

Game play for Kings Cribbage is much like Scrabble. Players first draw a letter from a bag to see who draws (and goes) first. Unlike Scrabble, however, players only draw 5 tiles rather than 7. The first player tries to find the best Cribbage hand within his 5 tiles and then places them in a line (in any order) anywhere on the board. The first play must be between 2 and 5 tiles, but all subsequent plays can be anywhere from 1 to 5 tiles. Points are tallied based on the rules of Cribbage (with Aces always low so that a sequence of A 2 3 is allowed but not A K Q). Extra points may be scored for using all 5 of your tiles (10 pts) or arranging a hand so that they’re all the same colour (10 pts). In the event of an illegal move, the player forfeits their turn.

Oware is an abstract strategy game among the bigger Mancala family of board games (or Pit and Pebbles Games)
